JEWELLERY
I mentioned before that I saw photography in V&A, then let’s talk about the jewellery displayed in this museum today.
Jewellery is ornaments that people wear, for example rings, bracelets, and necklaces. It is often made of a valuable metal such as gold, and sometimes decorated with precious stones. However, The V&A Museum has one of the finest and most comprehensive jewellery collections in the world. From ancient times to the present, it tells the story of European jewelry. There are more than 3,000 pieces of jewelry in this exhibition hall. This is simply the place that dream of all girls.
In here, I saw a lot of jewelry about the British royal family. Every jewel is very exquisite and luxurious in here. Especially, the coronet of Queen Victoria, it makes me unforgettable. It is excellent in both workmanship and materials. I read it in the introduction, it says ‘Coronet: brilliant-cut and single-cut diamonds open-set in silver lined with gold. Step-cut sapphires open-set in gold.’
I know that this crown was designed by Prince Albert for Queen Victoria in 1840, and that was their wedding year. It was given to Queen Victoria by Albert the day before the wedding. As a symbol of her royal status. So I especially want to see what the real crown looks like. Fortunately, I had the chance to see it at the v&a Museum on Friday. When I saw it, I seemed to share the joy of their love with Queen Victoria.
I feel very precious about this experience at the v&a Museum. I felt that I have learned a lot during this trip. I also recommend that you can visit this museum more, where you will get unexpected gains.
